Vetiş, Calvinist church

vetes

"The earliest information we have on this church dedicated to St Nicholas is from 1265. Despite recent remodeling of the church, it has for the most part retained its medieval form. The buildings faces east and has a quadrangular western tower, a nave with a rectangular floor plan and a twobay sanctuary terminating in five sides of an octagon. The nave and the tower were built earlier, at the beginning of the 14th century. The sanctuary was built later, as indicated by the floral and geometric designs of the vaulting’s consoles. Traditionally the construction of the church is linked to Albert Vetési, the 15th-century bishop of Veszprém, and the coat of arms on the southern façade certainly supports this connection."
