Kölcse, Calvinist church

kolcse

"Surrounded by the river Túr and its tributary, this settlement was a tax collecting point in the Middle Ages. Its church was first mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. The building’s form is still largely medieval. A polygonal sanctuary of the same width is attached to the rectangular nave of the church. There are altogether four lancet windows in the southern wall, two in the nave, and another two in the sanctuary. The interior space is currently united, but in the Middle Ages it was divided by a triumphal arch. The springs of the former vault survive in the sanctuary. The church is probably the result of one phase of construction, dating around 1500. The bell tower was built at the end of the 18th century."
