Negreşti-Oaş, Wooden church of Lechinţa

"The church of Lechinţa was relocated in 1967, and reconstructed in its current spot in 1978-79. The first detailed description of the wooden church dates to 1775. The building has a foundation of ashlars and the walls were made of logs. The nave and sanctuary have a well-proportioned, tile roof. The tower resting on the ridge of the roof dominates the western side of the nave. The interior is divided into three. An open porch with four columns appears on the western façade. The nave is divided into two uniform sections: the western half was for women and the eastern for men. The women’s church has no windows. The sanctuary is narrower than the nave and has small windows on three sides. The church may date to the 17th century. The tower and western porch are the results of 17th century restructuring. The rich interior paintings were made in 2006."
